We’re 10! A Decade of Roadside Technologies

2025 marks a huge milestone for us: Roadside Technologies is officially 10 years old!

Since opening the doors of our very first depot back in 2015, we’ve come a long way. From humble beginnings, hiring out our first local equipment, to today — delivering innovative, safety-first solutions nationwide — it’s been an incredible journey, and we couldn’t have done it without the brilliant people around us.

From a Small Depot to Big Ideas

We started small, but we’ve always thought big. In 2015, our first local hire rolled out of a modest depot with just two team members and a shared ambition: to make UK roads and worksites safer, smarter, and better managed.

By 2016, we were proudly building our first fully in-house VMS (Variable Message Sign), a defining moment that we’ve carried on through a commitment to innovation, British-Built products, local materials, and self-sufficiency. Those early years were full of plenty of experiments along with the occasional misstep, but those trials helped shape who we are and the products we manufacture today.

In 2017, we expanded our team and doubled down on delivery capacity – new trucks and our first fabricator (growing the team to three!) to meet the growing demand for our products and expertise.

The Covid Years

As we grew, so did the scope of our work. From keeping level crossing works safe to directing lorry traffic on busy roads, our mission remained clear: helping people travel to or for work, and get home safely at the end of the day.

When the pandemic hit in 2020, our VMS played a role in helping communities navigate social distancing and testing, as well as relaying messages of thanks to key workers and the NHS. Our signs were even featured in the NY Times and The Guardian!

Hold On to Your Hats…

The last few years have been packed with exciting “firsts”. In 2022 and 2023, our first CCTV installations hit the road- providing year-round off-grid operation, and monitoring by an NSI Gold certified control room. We exhibited at our first trade shows, and opened our Scotland depot in 2023, allowing us to serve even more of the UK. We also launched our first fixed VMS, expanding our offering even further.

2024, 2025, and Beyond

And of course, this year we unveiled our most ambitious innovation yet — Vecta, our game-changing hazardous object detection system, designed and developed entirely in-house and already turning heads across the industry.

We’re also proud to showcase our brand-new look — a bold rebrand that reflects the forward-thinking, customer-focused company we’ve become. It’s more than just a new logo; it’s a symbol of how we’ve evolved while staying true to our values.

Looking ahead, we’re excited to keep pushing boundaries, investing in innovation, and finding even smarter ways to keep roads and worksites safe. With Vecta, our expanding depot network, and plenty more ideas in the pipeline, the next decade promises to be even more exciting than the last.
