Our SDB-18 is designed with community speed watch groups, school sites, construction sites, and parish councils in mind. The self-contained, portable unit sits on a compact footprint of just 750mm x 500mm, making it a perfect choice for roadside monitoring if space is limited on site.
An intelligent next generation design, SDB-18 requires no mains power and can operate indefinitely on high-performance battery and solar alone.
SDB-18’s high intensity LED display can measure and display a vehicle speed at over 100 meters away, at speeds of 1-99mph, as well as being able to measure and display in kilometres. All passing vehicle data is captured and stored for download, as well as reports of graphs and charts in an industry format. Peak speeds, average speeds, traffic flow and worst offender data points are captured – all with date and time stamps. Once data has been recorded, the evidence can be audited for review or passed to local authorities to see if further measures are required.
When a speeding vehicle is detected, a ‘SLOW DOWN’ module will illuminate, along with an optional sad face module, encouraging drivers to stick to the advised limit. In fact, a study conducted by TRL for the UK Department for Transport concluded that vehicle activated signs are highly effective in speed reduction. For those traveling at or under the speed limit, a happy face module is also available to accompany the displayed speed.
